Study in France
Why choosing to study in France?
France offers a reputable higher education system with many institutions in different international rankings such as the Times Higher Education, the Financial Times ranking or the Shanghai ranking. In particular, if you intend to undertake studies in mathematics or scientific research, France offers a lot of options.
As the government invests each year 20% of its budget in the educational system, fees and tuition are accessible for international students. International students also enjoy access to the healthcare system and various subsidies for housing or practicing sports.
Living as a student in France is also an unforgettable multicultural experience whether you stay in the heart of the latin quarter in Paris or in a small town in the country side.
How the French uni is like?
The French system is mostly comprised of universities and Grande Ecoles. The Grande Ecoles offer teaching, research and professional training in specific academic fields such as engineering, business or public administration. Students graduate according to the LMD system (Bachelor’s-Master’s-Doctorate) system that is standardised across most of European countries. The advantage is a full recognition of the degrees and a student can get a Bachelor in France and then a Master in another country!
How to apply for a French university?
Ready to apply? The general requirement for university studies is to have a Baccalaureate or A-level. For more specific programmes, additional level assessment may be required. Non-European international students also need to obtain a Student visa. A very useful checklist prior and post arrival can be accessed there.
The ability to speak French is not required but strongly encouraged as some courses might be conducted in French. At French toast language center, we offer group classes to students who can expect to attain A1 level in roughly 8 months (at a 2.5h once a week pace). For students who wish to go faster, private lessons can also be considered. Conducted by native speakers, the lessons will prepare students for their experience in France!
